Cheap Air New Zealand Flights
Air New Zealand is the flag carrier for New Zealand and flies to and from the South Pacific and its own Australasia region. Its hub is at Auckland International Airport and it maintains Christchurch International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport as its focus cities. Air New Zealand flies to nearly 50 destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America, Asia and the South Pacific.
In the early 1990s, the airline was about to enjoy unlimited access to Australian airports and Australia’s domestic travelers when the Australian government backed out of the deal. In an effort to increase its reach into the Australian market, Air New Zealand eventually acquired the small Ansett Australia airline. It also got into the budget carrier business with the creation of Freedom Air in the mid-90s.
The expansion efforts of the 90s and a downturn in the air travel business eventually led to Air New Zealand dropping a few routes from its network and the collapse of Ansett, but recently things have been looking up again for the airline. In 2004, Air New Zealand was even named Best Long Haul Airline by Conde Nast Traveller’s UK readers. The airline has is also in the process of adding some new routes into its network, including Auckland-San Francisco, Auckland-Vancouver, B.C. and Auckland-Shanghai.
Air New Zealand is a member of the Star Alliance airline alliance.
