Cheap Garuda Indonesia Flights
Garuda Indonesia is the national flag carrier for Indonesia. Its much longer full name, PT (Persero) Perusahaan Penerbangan Garuda Indonesia, is thankfully not as widely used. Its headquarters are in Jakarta, Indonesia, and in addition to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport it also has hubs at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Polonia International Airport in Medan, Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan, and Singapore Changi Airport in Singapore.
Garuda Indonesia flies to more than 40 destinations in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and throughout East and South East Asia. In order to serve its customers on routes elsewhere, Garuda has code sharing agreements with China Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Korean Air, Gulf Air, Qatar Airways, Silkair, Vietnam Airlines, and Philippine Airlines. Through these agreements, Garuda is able to get its passengers to Western Europe.
Garuda Indonesia started a budget airline called CitiLink in 2001 in order to provide more frequent shuttle services between cities in Indonesia. CitiLink is a “no frills” airline, but Garuda is not – Garuda has first class or business class (in addition to economy class) on all of its flights. Most of Garuda’s aircraft are Boeing, but there are also some Airbus planes as well.
Garuda is the name of a mythical bird, and in the Vedic tradition it is Garuda who carries the Hindu god Vishnu.
