The national flag carrier for the Philippines is Philippine Airlines. It also has the distinction of being the first commercial airline in Asia, and the oldest commercial airline in Asia still operating under its original name. Its headquarters are in Makati City near Manila, and its main hub is at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Mactan-Cebu International Airport is considered a focus city for Philippine Airlines. Philippine Airlines serves more than 40 destinations. The airline flies nonstop routes from Manila to San Francisco and Los Angeles several times each week, but the main destinations served are in East Asia and South East Asia. Additionally, there are regular flights to and from Vancouver, British Columbia, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Guam, Melbourne and Sydney.
Philippine Airlines has code sharing agreements with several airlines, including Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Gulf Air, Malaysia Airlines and Vietnam Airlines. The fleet of the airline is mainly Airbus aircraft, although there are several Boeing airplanes as well. The airline also has close ties with Philippines’ budget carrier, Air Philippines – and this includes sharing frequent flyer miles, ticketing and timetables.
