Qatar Airways is the flag carrier of Qatar. It flies to 89 destinations in 55 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania. The airline’s main hub is at Doha International Airport.
Qatar Airways is one of only six airlines awarded 5-star rating by Skytrax. It is one of the fastest growing airlines in the word and operates one of the youngest fleet. All classes on their aircrafts have video screens at every seat. On some aircrafts live digital satellite television, offering European and Arabic channels. The airline’s Economy Class was named best in the world in the 2009 and 2010 by Skytrax Awards.
Their frequent flyer program is Qatar Airways Privilege Club – Qmiles and has reciprocal agreements with several airlines.
The airline was establishes in 1993 and started flying in 1994. It was re-launched in 1997, under a new management team and with different owners.
In June 2010, the airline announced six new routes to Europe and Asia starting with October 2010. Destinations in Europe include Bucharest (Romania), Budapest (Hungary) via Bucharest, Nice (France) via Milan and Brussels (Belgium). The new destinations in Asia are Phuket (Thailand) via Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi (Vietnam) via Bangkok.
It currently has codeshare agreements with the following airlines: All Nipon Airways, Asiana Airlines, bmi, Garuda Indonesia, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Philippine Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways .
