Cheap Spirit Airlines Flights
Spirit Airlines is one of the budget airlines operating in the United States. It is based in Miramar, Florida, and its hubs are Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Atlantic City Inernational Airport is considered a focus city. Spirit flies to more than 30 destinations, fully one quarter of which are in the Caribbean, Latin America and the Bahamas. The airline is increasing its route network to include more destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America. Recently added cities include St. Maarten (Netherlands Antilles), Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Las Vegas, Caracas (Venezuela), Guatemala City and San Jose (Costa Rica).
The airline announced in early 2007 its intent to become the first “ultra-low” cost carrier in the United States by mid-2007. Following the model of other budget carriers, especially Ryanair and Air Asia, Spirit will begin charging a fee for each bag checked (the fee would be reduced if the bags were pre-reserved online before your flight) as well as a fee for in-flight beverages. The airline will also no longer provide business class service, but will have what they are calling (in all caps) a BIG FRONT SEAT that travelers can reserve for an additional fee or upgrade at the airport.
Spirit has a fleet made up entirely of Airbus aircraft. The airline’s frequent flyer program is called (again, in all caps) FREE SPIRIT, which offers rewards beginning at a lower level than most frequent flyer programs.
