SriLankan Airways is the flag carrier airline of Sri Lanka. It operates scheduled flights to European and Asian cities, to a total of 33 destinations. Its base and hub is at Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo).

The airline has been previously known as Air Lanka, which was founded in 1979. During the 1980s, the airline increased the number of destinations and by 1990 it served 26 destinations.

SriLankan is not a part of any airline alliance but has codeshare agreements with the following airlines: BMI , Etihad Airlines and Malaysia Airlines .

FlySmiLes is the airline’s frequent flyer program. As a member, points are earned when you fly with SriLankan Airline or a partner airline. Also, points can be earned when you make purchases at any partner. Miles can be redeemed for free flights.

All aircrafts offer two classes: Business Class and Economy Class. Business Class passengers enjoy wide, spacious, reclining seats and can choose among 18 TV channels to watch during the flight. Food – Western and Asian – is offered in Business Class , as well. Economy Class passengers enjoy a personal seatback TV, adjustable seats and international cuisine.
