How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Austin
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (airport code AUS) only began passenger service in 1999, but it has been an airport since 1930. Given its proximity to the central business district of Austin (it is only five miles away), it is perfectly situated to serve Texas’ capitol city. While it is not a hub for any airline, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines and Continental Airlines are the top carriers. These are the airlines to check, therefore, for special deals on tickets. American and Continental also operate lounges at the Austin airport for members.
A complete list of airlines serving Austin-Bergstrom International Airport can be found here, and real-time flight information can be found here for both arrivals and departures. For information on where you can dine and shop in Austin’s airport while you wait for your flight, see the links on this page. Austin is known as the “Live Music Capitol of the World,” and the airport even gets in on the act – you are likely to run into live music acts playing in the terminal. A calendar of musical acts is here. There is a list of ground transportation options here, including the local bus lines that serve the airport. If you are driving to the airport, maps and directions are here and parking information can be found here.
