Cheap Flights to Dominican Republic

There are two good-sized international airports serving the Dominican Republic, so you have a couple of good choices in order to get to this Caribbean country.

Las Américas International Airport (airport code SDQ) is in Punta Caucedo near the capital of Santo Domingo, the largest city in the Dominican Republic. While it was once the hub for several small airlines, it is not currently being used as a hub by any airline. The airlines serving Las Americas are listed here. A terminal map is here. Your shopping options are listed here and your dining options here. Ground transportation includes taxis (information here) and rental cars (agencies listed here).

Cibao International Airport (airport code STI) is in the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, Santiago de los Caballeros. The airlines serving Cibao International are listed here. The most recent arrivals are listed here and departures here. The airport's main website has links for shops and restaurants and also an airport guide, but the links do not work at present. There are not other ground transportation options listed, but the car rental agencies serving the airport are listed here. For the rest of your travel needs, you will probably need to locate a tourist information booth at the airport and get your questions answered on the spot.

More Information on Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic occupies about half of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, and it is truly one of those tropical Caribbean destinations you will want to spend time in. While you will find resorts, golf courses and the requisite beautiful beaches, the Dominican Republic is not (yet) completely inundated by tourists so you might feel like you are actually seeing what the Caribbean looked like before the sunbathers started showing up in herds.
