Cheap Flights to Galway

While most international travelers will go through Dublin's airport first, Galway Airport (airport code GWY) has been growing steadily and increasing its passenger numbers for years. The number of charter flights in particular have been going up. The airport actually lies roughly nine kilometers away from Galway city center in the nearby town of Carnmore.

There are only two airlines which have scheduled flights to and from Galway - AerArann and flybe - and you can find information about both here. A timetable with regularly scheduled flights and their destinations is here. Galway's airport is small, so you will find a grand total of one restaurant - AV8 Cafe Bar - in which to dine. The airport does offer free WiFi, which helps (you just have to ask at the information desk for a free username and password). A map of the region is here, along with rough estimates of how long it will take from various cities to reach the airport. This page includes information about renting a car at Galway Airport, and estimates of what the taxi fare would be to various destinations in the area.

More Information About Galway

The city of Galway on the western coast of the country is the third largest in Ireland. While the town itself may not be a tourist attraction, it is an ideal base from which to explore West Ireland. Galway can be easily navigated on foot, but to see the region around it you will probably want to rent a car - especially to get to more remote sights.
