How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Houston
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (airport code IAH) is located 23 miles north of Houston near the Texas city of Humble (which seems an ironic name for a town in a state which boasts that everything is bigger there, but that is another story). It is the second largest airport in Texas, after Dallas-Fort Worth, and does offer international service. Bush Intercontinental is the headquarters of Continental Airlines, and is the airline’s largest hub – so be sure to check Continental for special deals on tickets. Until 1997, the airport was known just as Houston Intercontinental Airport – it was renamed that year for George H. W. Bush.
You will find a complete list of carriers serving Bush Intercontinental here and a flight tracker is on the airport’s home page here. To help you get around the airport, here is an interactive terminal map. Toward the bottom of this page you will find a list of some of the passenger amenities in Houston, including a currency exchange service and pay-as-you-go WiFi access. Ground transportation options are listed here, including standard zone rates for taxi rides to various parts of Houston, rental car agencies operating at the airport are listed here, and scheduled shuttle bus service options are here. If you are driving to the airport, you will find directions and maps here and you can save time and money on Houston airport parking by booking it in advance.
