How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Maryland

You might not think of the small state of Maryland as being home to one of the busiest airports in the country, but it is – Baltimore-Washington International Airport (airport code BWI), otherwise known as Thurgood Marshall Airport or simply as BWI, serves both the city of Baltimore as well as being one of three major airports to serve the nation’s capital of Washington D.C. Although BWI does have Washington in its name, and although many people flying in and out of D.C. use BWI, the other two area airports are much closer to Washington D.C., so it may not be the best choice for a D.C. flight. Because it is further from Washington D.C. it is also not a hub for any airlines – though Southwest Airlines does consider BWI a focus airport. A full list of all the airlines serving Baltimore-Washington airport is here. You will find terminal maps here and here, and from those maps you can determine your dining and shopping options at the airport. You have lots of choices for ground transportation to and from BWI, including light rail, and you can book Baltimore airport parking in advance.

The second-busiest airport in Maryland is a distant, distant second after BWI, but it has an equally big name – Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport (airport code SBY). Thankfully, it is more commonly known simply as Wicomico Regional Airport. It lies about five miles from Salisbury, and is served by only one airline – US Airways – with service to BWI, Charlotte, and Philadelphia.
