How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Milwaukee
Travelers to Chicago might have several airports to choose from locally, but that does not stop some from actively heading for General Mitchell International Airport (airport code MKE) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin instead. For that reason, it is sometimes called “Chicago’s third airport,” and is utilized by travelers throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois. For easy access, there is even an Amtrak train station at the airport which runs to and from Chicago and also downtown Milwaukee. Mitchell International, named for US Army Air Service General Bill Mitchell (who some consider the father of the US Air Force), is the main hub of Midwest Airlines.
You will find a complete list of carriers serving Mitchell International here and a flight tracking system is available here for incoming and outgoing flights. Some of the shops and services in the airport are listed here, and to help you find your way around the airport there is a terminal map here. If you are bored with the usual eating and shopping alternatives while you wait for your flight, you can always take a walk through the Mitchell Gallery of Flight, an aviation museum. Ground transportation options are listed here, and maps and directions to the airport are available here.
