How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Newark

Travelers going to the New York area have several airports to choose from. Newark Liberty International Airport (airport code EWR) is technically in New Jersey, but do not let that fool you. The vast majority of people flying into Newark are not there to visit New Jersey – they head immediately into New York City. Though Newark is in a neighboring state, it is a popular choice for flying in and out of the New York City area, as it lies only 15 miles from the city. Newark, in fact, ranks fifth as an international gateway to the United States (New York’s JFK Airport is first).

Newark is one of the largest hubs for Continental Airlines, so check for ticket specials with them. You can find a list of all the airlines serving Newark here, and track incoming and outgoing flights here. To spend your time (and money) while waiting for your flight, here are the shops, restaurants and other passenger services at the Newark airport. There are three spas in the airport – one in each terminal – and their contact information is here. Ground transportation options can be found here, along with Newark’s AirTran service. If you are driving to the airport, you will find directions here, and you can save time and money on Newark airport parking.

The New York City area is also served by LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
