Cheap Flights to Nigeria

There are four international airports in the country of Nigeria, though the largest and most busy is undeniably the Lagos airport, Murtala Muhammed International Airport (airport code LOS). The airport gets its name from a former Nigerian military commander, and if the terminal looks familiar to you then you might recognize it from your last trip through Amsterdam - it was modeled after Schiphol Airport.

The Lagos airport is actually located in nearby Ikeja, but this is the main airport serving the former Nigerian capitol. Not only is this the main air transportation gateway to the country of Nigeria, it is also one of the major airports in the entirety of Africa. Not that many years ago, the Lagos airport was thought to be relatively dangerous, but since the elections of 1999 security has improved at Murtala Muhammed.

International destinations which connect with Lagos include Paris, Accra, Milan, London, Johannesburg, Kinshasa, Dubai, Beijing, Atlanta, Cairo, Madrid, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Beirut, Washington DC, New York and Istanbul. Some of the airlines which fly in and out of Nigeria's main airport are Air France, British Airways, Cameroon Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Delta Airlines, EgyptAir, Emirates, KLM, Lufthansa, Royal Air Maroc and Virgin Atlantic.

The other three international airports in Nigeria are Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano (airport code KAN), Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja (airport code ABV), and Port Harcourt International Airport (airport code PHC).

More Information on Nigeria

Nigeria is a land of contrasts, and although some parts of the country are (for the moment) best avoided by most tourists, there are areas which are pretty safe for visitors as well. The country is full of great national parks, containing some of that famous African wildlife eveyone comes to see, which also happen to be great destinations for eco-travelers.
