Cheap Flights to Norway

Norway’s main international airport is Oslo Airport (airport code OSL) in Gardermoen, 48 km north of Oslo. It’s now the second largetst airport in the Nordic countries, behind Copenhagen Airport. Most of the destinations served by Oslo Airport are in Europe, but there are a few overseas destinations as well. Both SAS Braathens and Norwegian Air Shuttle use Oslo Airport as their main hub.

A list of all the airlines serving Oslo Airport is here, and you can track flight schedules here. There is WiFi available throughout the airport (for a fee) as well as Internet access points. There is a left luggage office at the airport opposite the train station in the arrivals area – the details are here. Your shopping options are listed here – and Oslo Airport happens to have the largest duty-free shop in all of Europe, so you’ll either need to save money for one last hurrah or exercise your willpower as you wait for your next flight – it’s your choice. To get to and from the airport, your ground transportation options are listed here. Car rental agencies are listed here and directions are here.

If you can find a cheap flight to a major European hub like London or Paris, you might be able to find a budget flight on a carrier into Sandefjord Lufthavn, which is 115 km south of Oslo. The ground transportation from the airport to Oslo will cost you significantly more, but if the flight itself is only €10 it might be worth it!

More Information on Norway

Norway’s natural wonders are a feast for the eyes – its famous fjords being only the beginning. It’s sparsely populated compared to other countries of a similar size, so it’s a great place to enjoy the outdoors in any season. Skiing and snowboarding are popular in the winter, while hiking and biking take over in the summer months. But for its location, Norway is substantially warmer than you’d expect, thanks to the Gulf Stream. All in all, its dramatic and rugged landscapes and friendly people (nearly all of whom speak English well) make Norway a fabulous country to visit.
