Cheap Flights to Palma de Mallorca

The airport in Palma de Mallorca is called Son Sant Joan Airport (airport code PMI) or Palma de Mallorca Airport. It lies about eight kilometers outside of Palma itself. Palma is the capital of the Spanish Balearic Islands, and the Palma de Mallorca Airport is the third largest airport in Spain. Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands are so popular that during the summer months the Palma de Mallorca Airport is one of the busiest airports in all of Europe. Son Sant Joan Airport is a hub for Air Berlin.

Because the Balearic Islands are so popular, especially with Europeans, you are likely to be able to find a good deal on a low cost European airline from major hubs like London or Frankfurt. So if you can find a good deal on airfare to one of those big cities, then you can book a separate ticket to Palma de Mallorca on a budget airline - you just might save yourself some big money.

You can find a list of all the airlines serving Palma de Mallorca here, and you can track both incoming and outgoing flights here. There are maps of the airport here. Your dining options are listed here, and your shopping options here. Ground transportation choices include buses and taxis, and you can learn more about both here. You can also rent a car at Palma de Mallorca Airport from one of the agencies listed here (driving directions are here).

Be sure to check on international airfare to Spain, and then read through our Palma de Mallorca Travel Guide to figure out what to do and where to stay once you arrive.

More Information on Palma de Mallorca

Mallorca, like the rest of the Balearic Islands, is popular for its beaches and its party atmosphere. But Palma has more to offer than just sun, sand and dancing (although all three of those things are well worth the trip) - there is a castle with an archaeological museum, an architectural museum, a beautiful seaside cathedral and a building which once housed the Arab baths. So if you can tear yourself away from the beaches and the night clubs, there is some history and culture to soak up in Palma as well.
