How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Raleigh-Durham
Raleigh-Durham International Airport (airport code RDU) is nine miles from Morrisville, North Carolina between the cities in its name, Raleigh and Durham. It has served in the past as a hub for American Airlines and Midway Airlines, though it does not serve as a hub for any carrier now. It is one of the United States’ fastest growing airports, however, so it might become a hub or focus city for another airline eventually. There are not many international flights which arrive at Raleigh-Durham, so there are not many immigration control windows to process passengers. As a result, when international flights do arrive people can end up waiting in very long lines to be processed.
A complete list of airlines serving Raleigh-Durham International can be found on the right side of this page, and a flight tracker is here. Your dining and shopping options are here and a terminal map showing the locations of each is here. WiFi access is available for a fee, and for a different kind of airport distraction you can hang out in the RDU Observation Park (information here) to listen to live communications with the control tower. Ground transportation options, including taxis, limousines, rental cars, buses and trains, are listed here. If you are driving to the airport, directions and a map can be found here, and you can save time and money on Raleigh-Durham airport parking by reserving it in advance.
