Cheap Flights to Roatan

The island of Roatan does have its own airport, Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (airport code RTB), which does have both national and international flights. It is served by Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, TACA, Islena Airlines and Atlantic Airlines - and that is all. A larger airport which is close to Roatan, but is also considered a major airport in Honduras, is Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport (airport code SAP) - also called La Mesa International Airport - which is 11km from San Pedro Sula. It is served by several airlines, including Aeromexico, American Airlines, Atlantic Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Islena Airlines, TACA and Copa Airlines. La Mesa International can be a good airport to fly into because you are not only close to the island of Roatan, but also to other Honduran sights nearby.

Neither airport has a website, so in both situations you will need to locate an information desk when you arrive at the airport to get answers to your questions about ground transportation, baggage storage and anything else you need to know.

More Information on Roatan

The island of Roatan lies in the Caribbean off the coast of Honduras, and is the ideal spot for a holiday centered on sun, sand and surf. The island does not have a well established tourist infrastructure - for instance, there is only one main road on the whole island - but that might be a plus, so long as millions of people do not suddenly decide to visit. Most of the people who spend time on Roatan do so in order to dive, snorkel and surf, so if any of those things are your passions, you will find yourself happy on Roatan.
