How to Find Cheap Air Travel to/from Sacramento
California’s capitol city might not be the first place in the state most people want to visit, but Sacramento has much to offer. Sacramento International Airport (airport code SMF) will get you there. It is located 10 miles from the central business district of Sacramento. Despite having the word “international” in its name since 1996, Sacramento’s first international flight did not begin operations until 2002 when Mexicana airline began service to Guadalajara. Apparently the people who named the airport were just being optimistic – and it paid off. Sacramento International Airport can be a good airport to use if you are visiting Napa Valley or Lake Tahoe – since it is a lesser used airport it can be less of a hassle.
You will find a complete list of carriers serving Sacramento International here and a flight tracking is available here for incoming and outgoing flights. A terminal map is located here, including dining options and shopping. A list of all passenger services at the airport is here. Free WiFi service is available throughout both terminals. Ground transportation options, including car rentals, taxis and buses, can be found here, and a rental car return map is here. If you are driving to the airport, you will find an airport map here and driving directions here.
