Juan Santamaria International Airport (airport code SJO) is the biggest and busiest airport in Costa Rica, and the country's primary international gateway. Not only is the San Jose airport the most important in Costa Rica, it is also the busiest airport in all of Central America. It is located about 20km from the city of San Jose in the town of Alajuela.

San Jose's airport is a hub for both TACA and Lacsa Airlines. Two other airlines with busy schedules at Juan Santamaria International Airport are Copa Airlines and American Airlines. The airport's website does not have an English translation, so if you speak Spanish you are in luck.
